Over the weekend, I had some friends kids over and they got in the pool. Tested Monday morning (FAS-DPD) and noticed I had .5 of CC. I've been maintaining my FC levels at 5 (also have turned off the UV/Ozone generator). The CC levels stayed <.5 and today tested zero.
I've read through pool school, but it isn't specifically addressed so I'm assuming that since CC indicates the chlorine is doing what it does, as long as I maintain an appropriate level of FC for my CYA level, the CC will go to zero when the problem is handled?
Since I'm here, I would like to thank everyone here making a new pool owner feel confident with assistance and a wealth of information available. I'm more confident that I have the knowledge to deal with issues, while at the same time, learning my pool. Based on what I've learned here, I've not used chlorine tabs (along with an unused chlorine dispenser) and have turned my AOP off as well. If my chlorine usage keeps up (which in Austin, I know its going to get worse...) I plan to ditch the UV/Ozone and install an SWG in a effort to save some money and labor.
Thanks all.
