Coleman / Bestway filter upgrade?

We like our 18' Coleman but the pump/filter just doesn't do the trick and now it's not working altogether. This is our 2nd floclear filter this year as last year's was dead. Bestway's customer service is non existent. The customer has to fill out a "Call back request" form and wait a week for a response.

I took the pump to the local pool store who didn't have anything in stock. A second store tried using different adapters so I could upgrade to a bigger pump but it can't be done without cutting into the line. I'd also need a licensed electrician to place a permanent electrical line. Has anyone ever upgraded the filter on one of these? Links?

New more permanent above ground pools are running $7500 + $1500 install and $2500 for electrician as a starting point around here and I'm not looking to spend $12k+ for a few months of pool use (our summers last from June - Aug and cool off in Sept)

Lots of folks go with something like this
XtremepowerUS 75110 Pool Sand Filter 13" W/Pump 3/4HP ABOVEGROUND, Blue Amazon.com : XtremepowerUS 75110 Pool Sand Filter 13" W/Pump 3/4HP ABOVEGROUND, Blue : Garden & Outdoor
Which have much better longevity than their intex counterparts & cost roughly the same currently.
It shouldn’t cost too terrible much to have a dedicated gfci run near the pool.
Thank you for this recommendation! I'm just wondering how I would know if the lines would fit my existing lines and if I would need to install a new skimmer or not?

I ask because I took the motor to a couple local pool places and one was out of stock, the other didn't have all the right connections but the common theme was they tried to sell me on buying a new above ground pool. Thanks again!

You can order adapters on amazon/ make your own, or get regular above ground pool hoses & jets & cut in an above ground skimmer

Great 👍🏻 it’s much easier to deal with regular above ground pool hoses/fittings etc. as they have normal threads so u can use things like pvc barb fittings to add valves & such. I definitely recommend at least one valve between the skimmer & pump so u can empty the pump basket without fighting it.
also if u upgrade your pool in the future you’ll be all set.
