Coins used under cover track

It's an old skool version of liner lock. (A thin rubber wedge to hold the liner in the track. All vinyl pools need the corners wedged. As the liner ages, sometimes folks need to wedge other spots. See the bottom of this link for a visual on how the liner zips into the track with really nothing holding it tight.

New build just 3 mos
New liner or new pool?

Based on the dirt and corrosion, the pool looks a lot older than 3 months.

Is the corner square or round?

It is basically impossible to put a liner in a square 90 degree corner.

Corners should be rounded.

All liners should use liner lock.

Some installers use various items instead of liner lock like pennies or popsicle sticks.

The liner looks like it does not really fit correctly and the corners will probably be a problem.

The liner is already pulling out and it needs to be secured properly.

Ask the builder to fix it under warranty.

Can you show the pool before the liner was installed?

It looks a lot older based on the dirt and corrosion.

In any case, it looks like they tried to make a liner fit into a 90 degree corner, which never works well.

It should be fixed as much as possible with liner lock to prevent the liner from coming out further.

Here are some pic prior to liner install, I appreciate your feedback and wonder why coins would be used instead of the liner lock you’re referring to.
Thank you

A corner should never be 90 degrees.

The sharpest should be 135 degrees.

The liner will never go into a 90 degree corner properly.

The best you can do is try to get it as close as possible and liner lock everything to keep it from falling out.

The innovation of liner bead was a major improvement to the manufacturing and fit of vinyl liners, however the innovation highlighted the poor fit of liners in pools with square corners

does this mean salt water is getting to my metal walls?
Well it's pool water at 10% the salinity of the ocean, so you have that going for you. 120ft of liner lock is $27 on Amazon. Wrap the whole pool. It pushes right in with your thumbs and if there's any tight spots, use a rubber mallot and a piece of scrap lumber to give it some love taps.
