I have no idea what the actual part is called. But every time we go to pull the basket and empty the skimmer, these things always come loose and it can be a real pain to hold them down while pulling the basket out. One of them has snapped. Is it necessary? If so, what is it called?

Best advice is to turn the pump off when you pull the basket.
Confirm the skimmer part number on the back of skimmer lid...then we can find the right PN.
