Cloudy water & other issues

Couple of questions:

1) So I cleaned my filter the other day, and now my pool is cloudy from the (new) DE -- does this mean I re-assembled my filters incorrectly?

2) The skimmers don't seem to drawing well -- I have pollen and leaves on the surface of the water that circulate but don't get drawn into the skimmer.

Ideas?

Both those problems point to a filter issue.

What is your normal clean filter pressure and what is it now?

How does the flow feel on your returns?

Pressure is 18 -- usually 25. I clean it when it hits 30.

Returns feel fine and I can see them rotating the surface pollen/leaves.

We also had some rain recently --and pool is filled to the brim. Would that have an effect?

Water level should be halfway up the skimmer mouth for best skimming. If the water is at the top of the skimmer it will not work well.

Just backwashed a few hundred/thousand gallons to drop water level. Looks like it is already drawing better.

I took the filter apart, and everything looks fine. When I put it back together again, I noticed there is a small itty bitty drip.
