Cloudy water after green algea. How to clear?

Hey guys, I came home from vacation last week to a green swamp. I'm new to this, and sick of the pool store prices. I dumped 36 lbs of shock and 12 gallons of liquid chlorine in the water over 4 days which brought mu FC initially up to 3. The water went from green to less green to where were at now. I'll post pictures in sequence of how it changed. I took a test strip this morning (I'm ordering the TF100 ASAP) and the results are in the picture. What should I do from this point?

Thanks in advance.
Stephen

Your algae removal process is not done, that's why the water is still cloudy. You'll never get it clear with test strips. They are horrible. You need a proper test kit so that you can accurately perform the SLAM Process. A TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit is your best tool right now. Order one of those and you'll be able to test accurately and conduct the SLAM Process the way it was designed using liquid chlorine as your primary agent to maintain the proper elevated FC level. Good luck!

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.

mknauss,

How do I go about figuring out how to put in 5ppm of chlorine? Is there a calculator for that? Sorry for my ignorance! Lol

Brilliant. I have the pool math app, it's starting to make sense. So I just bought 3 96 oz. Jugs of 5% bleach. Seeing that there is 128oz in one gallon, the amount of 10% chlorine I need to add to make 5ppm is 192 oz.

Because I bought 5%, i need double the oz. So 384oz. I'm getting it lol.
