just opened our pool last week. I didn't add chlorine till a few days later. Water was clear and I thought because it was still pretty cold out side it wouldn't need chlorine (we live in Winnipeg Manitoba).

this was the reading once pool was opened the water was clear, i didn't add chlorine bc it was still pretty cold out, we opened it really early this year bc we had to install a new pump motor.
then a few days later i noticed it was getting a bit cloudy so I added two jugs of chlorine. (3.6L each 10.3%) I didn't slam it because in the past if its just a bit cloudy adding a bottle or two of chlorine would do the trick
a day later the water was still cloudy so I think my husband added another jug, FC an hour later was 7
I retested the water 10 hrs later and the readings were:
FC 4.5
CYA 50
TA 100
PH 7.8-8 hard to tell the color df between these two (can PH go above 8?)
cal 300 or slightly less
CC 0.5
SLAM for me should be FC of 20
I didn't have enough Chlorine on hand so I only added two more jugs of chlorine (3.6 L each 10.3%) tonight
FC a few hours later was 15 or 15.5 (around 1030pm)
I will test it again in the morning before sunrise to see the overnight FC loss
If its more than 1 I will do the SLAM?
Any suggestion about the PH? should I lower it before SLAM if its needed and should I worry about the TA at 100? I read in the forum PH can fluctuate and some ppl said to leave it at 8 too and not bother adjusting?
i know the app says to lower PH to 7 or 7.2 which will lower TA but by how much? how much df does this make on the TA
it also said I would need to aerate the pool after lowering Ph to 7 or 7.2......how would I do that? I couldn't find a lot of info on this
