I see you are in Mass, Does your pool have a main drain? If you normally drain below the returns for winterizing, might as well drain it and use the main drain while you try and clear up the water. Why try and sanitize xxxx# of gallons you are dumping anyway

I opened my pool for the first time and it was a CYA of 110. I tried to SLAM...and regret it so much. So much chlorine wasted. You're going to have to drain. If you're closing your pool, I'd say drain it to where you need to close, and then close. Some CYA may burn off over the winter. And then you can finish the drain and fill when you open.

Make sure to clean out your filters after using clarifiers and also, they are not recommended to be used if you follow the TFP method.
