Air temps in southern WV are running 65 -80s but since nights are much cooler 40-60 depending on the day my pool has been to cold for over a month to swim. Water temp has been in the 60’s and just now dipped to 58 this weekend.
Honestly I’m over fighting the leaves and debris since I can’t enjoy it. I’ve taken to keeping my FC to high SLAM level just to make sure I don’t end up with green soup for water. I just want to close it up.
This coming week it’s forecast 77-81 degrees with nights in the upper 50 to low 60’s. If I go ahead and close up will the water be okay come spring? The actual water temp hasn’t been out of the 60’s for weeks. It not super cold to my hands yet but there’s no way I would jump in lol.

I’m even game to leave the cover loose enough to access and keep adding liquid chlorine until late October. Of course keeping the pump running as well.
Thoughts? Opinons?

I think you will be fine closing if your water temperature is 60 or less.

The daytime high temperatures are for a few hours and the night temperature is colder for longer.
