I'm needing to close/cover pool (mesh) by this weekend as we're about to have a new deck & privacy screens installed starting after Labor day - this includes making some changes to pool plumbing (pump will be offline for several weeks). Potentially could reopen/start pump back November/December.
My readings today are:
PH = 8
FC = 6.5
TA = 70
CYA = 35
Salt = 3400
Adjusting PH down with muriatic acid.
What else do I need to adjust to keep things clear or am I just going to be fighting a green monster come reopening.
Will probably drop water below returns as the plumbing changes will necessitate this anyway. We hadn't closed pool in years but last year we did in anticipation of deck work which got delayed until now. I had pool company close it last year in October as I had shoulder injury & fought the green monster upon opening this spring.
Any suggestions to help ward off the green monster under these circumstances?

Your pool water will still be warm.

Use a Polyquat 60 algaecide. Raise your FC to at least half SLAM level. Then let FC drift back down to normal in a few days and add the PQ60. Let the pump run for 24 hours and close the pool.
