Closed for winter -- liner gave out -- advice needed

Hey all,

We closed our pool about 1 month ago for the winter -- lowered the water below the return jet and put the winter cover on it. Last few days I started to notice the cover was looking tighter, but didnt think anything of it. This morning I looked out and saw a "dent" near the top where the cover was pulling the top railing. Honestly thought an animal hopped onto the cover and was pulling it down (we've had some deer activity recently). Well, when I went out there I noticed the walls were pulling inward all around the pool and the cover was basically sitting on the ground in the center.

The pool was empty except for about 1-2" of water. Great.

Called the pool company we used to install a new liner 3 years ago (I supplied the liner because of covid supply issues - pool is about 8 years old), and they said its too late in the season to install a new liner due to the temperatures (supposed to be in the 30s-40s for the next 10 days). They suggested to release the winter cover and leave the pool as is for the winter, and barring any tornado winds, it should be fine.

Obviously I dont have much choice here, but is there anything else that can/should be done? I was not able to see the tear or rip from outside the pool, but I might climb in side to locate it -- I'm assuming it tore at the lower seam.

Picture attached of how its sitting at the moment.

I would agree about leaving the cover off as you don't want that downward force to pull the walls inward and collapse. Some people might even consider developing a couple DIY braces (i.e. 2x4s) to span across the pool in a couple places to help keep the walls stable if you get high winds there.
