I searched and found a few posts on this, but nothing definitive. It will be bloody cold here before long, but as I get ready to close the pool (for the first time...) I (or, more accurately, my wife) am interested in keeping the spa open for at least a few months. I can isolate the spa plumbing and blow out just the pool lines when I close. My home-brew automation will allow me to run the filter pump on low speed and keep the heater at a minimum setting so the spa/filter/pipes don't freeze when not in use. Of course, I would get an insulated spa cover. And I would be manually sanitizing instead of relying on my SWG. The power is pretty reliable here, so I'm not too concerned about outages. Am I crazy? Will this work?

It should work I think. Not sure if worth the effort though.
Recall when you all get it, the water will be displaced and likely flow into the pool. So you may have to manually add water to the spa to keep the level up is you have lowered the pool water level. Or the cold water will flow back into the spa from the pool.

We just closed our pool and keep the spa open until beginning of December when the temp drops below 32 all of the time. You need to run all of the pumps when the temp drops below freezing. I don't trust things also once it gets sub zero up here in the Chicago area.
