Clog and bubbles

Hello all,

I've perused through these forums for days and I cannot figure out my next step. I have a clogged pool line somewhere, possibly more than one. This started with the far side skimmer basket not pulling water in, then bubble appearing next to the return by the skimmer basket closest to the pump. I've tried reaching in the pump skimmer basket and rotating the "motor"(the spinning thing inside that can get clogged), and I'll get some suction with the water going toward the pump but it is never clearing fully, as in you don't hear that gurgle of all the water going back into the pump once the pressure is released. I can hear the water bubbling up toward the filter when I do this so I assumed a drain king would work.

Hooked up the drain king, shoved it down as far as I could into the filter pipe inside and all it did was push water out back into the filter and overflow on the ground. Is my drain king too small? I also tried pushing the water with the drain king at the skimmer basket into the return and intake and nothing happened. I'm about to the point where I want to cut pipe to figure this out. But then I ready a link here about the jandy lines. Long question not so short...how do I open the jandy valves to see if there's something/a blockage stuck there? Do I ned to relieve pressure and take the pool pump lid off first? Is it safe to take the jandy check valves off without removing the tank lid?

H,

Most pools have their equipment pad above the pool water level, so it is perfectly fine to open the pump lid or remove the tops to any of the Jandy valves. Keep in mind that water in the filter is usually higher than the valves, so it will drain down and out any open lid or pipe.

If your equipment pad is lower that the water level in the pool, the pool water will drain down to the level of the opening.

Tell us more or show us some pics of your equipment pad.

I suspect that you have a suction side cleaner, and that you have sucked a bunch of leaves into your skimmer plumbing.. Is that true??

Thanks,

Jim R.
