Clear pool but bad test results?

Had my pool opened for a week now. I found a bucket of trichlor pucks from Lowe's to help raise cya for the season.

The pool opened slightly green with a good layer of leaves at the bottom. I've only used about six pucks in the chlorinator and had the pump running 12 hours daily.

FC CC and cya levels all remain at zero since the opening. I'm thinking of returning the pucks but then again the pool is Crystal clear and has been for a few days.

I have noticed the pH lowering slightly but nothing else seems to be affected.

A few things to consider about your comments above:
- Your pool had algae when you opened, so it required a TFP SLAM Process. Since you didn't do that, you still have algae in the water. That is obvious from the comment that FC and CYA levels are at zero.
- Tabs are best used for short-term use, not consistent chlorination as they increase the CYA level over time. In addition, they are acidic which is probably why you are showing your pH dropping a little.

If I were you, I'd follow the instructions on the SLAM Process page and use your TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit to test the FC frequently to ensure the FC is holding. Use regular bleach to maintain the FC level and test often until it holds. In your case, you should do the following:
1. Lower pH to 7.2
2. Increase FC to "10" and test in 10 minutes. It should hold fairly well, but if it drops below 5 in just 10 minutes, increase the FC back to 10 again and keep doing that drill every 10 minutes until the FC holds between 5-10 for 10 minutes.
3. Once you get that far, add stabilizer for a CYA goal of 30.
4. Now you can increase the FC to "12" which is your SLAM/Shock level. Maintain that FC level as much as you can 24/7 until you pass all 3 SLAM criteria.
