Cleaning up mess previous owners left me

I checked the original clorox shock chemical, and it does indeed have copper in it. So live and learn, I guess.

I'll try one of the better reviewed stain removers from amazon and see what happens.

Reading some more on this site (which is great, btw), I'm wondering if the stains are from all the leaves that sat on the bottom of the pool all winter. I mentioned in my first post the previous owners did a terrible job covering the pool. the cover blew off constantly and leaves got in there and sat all winter. I removed a ton of leaves when I took the cover off.

I'm hesitant to try adding some of the metal removers because one article on the internet says they work while another says they don't. I think the water is fine, according to the test results. The brown stain on the bottom just gives the water a greenish-blue hue instead of a nice blue one.

Some organic stains (leaves for instance) will dissipate or disappear over time with the sun and sanitizer. You could try a Magic Eraser (those foam block s available in the cleaning aisle of your favorite store) and see if they work but BE CAREFUL - they are more abrasive than you think!

The less chemicals you add the better. Be patient, grasshopper, and see if mother nature takes care of it for you if it indeed was from the leaves.! :)

I thought about the magic eraser too. Yes they can be very abrasive.... i've stripped paint with them once or twice.

I think I'm going to give it some time and see what happens. It's nothing that's preventing me from using the pool.... just looks ugly
