Cleaning Skimmer Pipe

Hi all

Sorry, not sure if this is in the right area but does anyone have any ideas / recommendations for cleaning in and around the pipe inside my skimmer (ie the pipe that leads out to the pump)?

Just have quite a bit of what seems like dirt (maybe algae) around the opening of the pipe so want to try and clean that and a short way inside.

Not sure if a bottle brush would be ok to use maybe?

Be careful using anything that can fall or get sucked into the pipe leading to the pump. I would just use a hose and flush the area with water.

Yeah, I’m only really looking to clean around the pipe opening at the bottom of the skimmer really so won’t be going deep into the pipe (would be doing it with the pump off too.

It definitely needs a scrub as I don’t think he precious owner ever cleaned the skimmer so a hose won’t cut it

Use a rag, sponge, etc. I use a cleaner like Simple Green in my skimmer to remove scum, etc.

Thanks! Does the simple green have any effect on the pool chemistry?

No. It is a tiny amount.

I guess you just pour some on the cloth/sponge and then get cleaning?
