My pool is in a screen enclosure (dark brown aluminum). The frame, however, is somewhat faded, and cleaning has not made it much better. Anyone have any suggestions for polishing it?

If it's brown that means it's either painted or anodized. It's most likely painted. Finding a touch up paint to match is probably going to be near impossible and polishing it is probably not going to work so I'd suggest a total repaint. It's a lot of work but it's not hard work, just tedious.
You might try some rubbing compound if the paint is "chalky" looking. You can find it easily at an automotive store near the wax.
