Some of the posts on TFP regarding de-scaling a SWG with acids seem to have conflicting opinions. In one post, it's stated it is safe to use 6% vinegar as it will not damage the rare-earth metals on the plates. Another post states "all acids will damage the plates". Asking for clarification here... does vinegar damage the plates, or no?
I bought a gallon of 30% vinegar at Home Depot yesterday. I was planning on diluting this 30% down to 6%, so again, is this safe for the SWG to do this, or no? I would try the popsicle stick trick to manually clean the plates, but I have a RJ-45+ cell where the plates are offset from the inlet/outlets, and makes getting a stiff tool in there to do the job very difficult. Asking for a friend... Thanks in Advance!
