Cleaning a pump free vacuum cord

Hi there everyone. With the kids activities the pool vacuum got left in the pool and it got a little away from me. My test strips say it’s fine (the colors are in range anyway) but I just pulled the vacuum from the water and the cord has build up and is sticky. (I’m assuming it’s algae) I’ll be taking a pool water sample to the local pool store and see if they can give me a better idea of what’s going on with the water but for now does anyone have suggestions on how to clean the vacuum cord? It’s just the cord the rest of it is fine.

Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.
Your cord is not sticky because of algae, this seems to be a common issue with leaving a bot in the pool, not sure why but assume it is a reaction with pool chems.
Heads up that all may not be fine with your pool water and relying on test strips is a big red flag. Strips are not accurate or precise and insufficient for balancing pool water safely and reliably.
Taking your pool water to a pool store for testing is no better and the "free test" may cost you many $$ and much frustration or worse. There are many examples of exactly this happening to unsuspecting pool owners who have found TFP after the damage was done, beware.
TFP promotes self testing at home with a quality kit .... Test Kits Compared.
