Cleaner possibly being less effective?

My cleaner has been absolutely great ever since my pool was installed nearly three years ago. Recently, I noticed the sweep hose had disconnected and the cleaner was getting stuck in the same corner all the time. The sweep hose end looked tired, so I cut off a half an inch of it and reinstalled. This morning during my normal brushing, I noticed I was kicking up a lot more dirt on the floor of the pool than I normally did. I decided to watch the cleaner directly for 10 minutes and noticed that it didn’t seem to be moving as fast as it normally had in the past. Likewise, the sweep hose, which use to whip around quite rapidly, was a lot less tamed. The booster pump seems fine, but I don’t know.

It definitely feels like the cleaner is being a lot less effective than it has been in the past. Any recommendations or feedback on how to test or address this?

Probably time for a rebuild kit. Over time corrosion forms in the bearings causing friction which slows down the Polaris cleaner. The water power is not very strong to overcome the friction.

Makes sense. So rebuilding 280 should address all of the issues I mentioned in my post? Speed of the cleaner, cleaning power, and the sweep hose?

Rebuild kit does not replace the sweep hose. You need to buy that separately.
