I have cleaned my filter yesterday. As I have before many times. This morning I saw some DE in the pool. I turned the filter on and brushed the whole pool. I guess it’s time to replace the grids. I’ve been running these since 2018 when I bought the house. They we in place when I got them so no way to know how old they are.

Anything else to check ?

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff,

That CYA thing was my brain not working.. oops...

A better way to add your DE is to use a five gallon bucket.. Add all the DE you plan to use to the bucket, which might fill a lot of the bucket up..

The add water.. You will be shocked at the amount of water you can still add even of the bucket is 3/4 filled with DE.

Stir the DE and water into a slurry.. With the pump running, slowly poor the slurry into the skimmer.. You will probably have to add more water a couple times. Keeps the DE dust down and I believe it coats the grids better.

I used to add it dry, but once I learned about this technique, I have never looked back.. :)

Thanks,

Jim R.

I can certainly try that. I was shown one scoop at a time letting the filter pull it into the filter and my DE filter is 3620 so I add 4 scoops to a cleaned filter

Well I no longer think I have a DE problem - I KNOW I DO. Filters on my robot show a ton and sweeping the pool shows white trails. UG - I ordered new grids and they arrived Friday. Went to take apart the assembly and the manifold is cracked - looks like I’ll run around and look for one. Leslie’s does not stock. Found the whole

Complete DEX3600DC out of a company in California for 292.00. If I can find a manifold top and grid bottom I’ll get it done today otherwise l will put it back to run another week. I did epoxy the crack but I’m only trying to get a week out of it. We will see If get lucky. IMG_5836.jpeg

Woke up this morning and there is DE in the pool near where the jets spray into the pool. I guess the manifold is damaged. Ordered a new one and I guess that will be next weekends adventure:). Anything else to consider as the issue for DE getting into pool.
