Hello, Got a concern about having enough water circulation. I have a 24ft AG round pool. A 2hp pump and 100sqft cartridge filter sys. I have one inlet port with wide mouth skimmer. I recently fixed a small leak in the 1 1/2 in pvc thinking that would help with the circulation, which it did but, I feel like it still isn’t consistent. With a clean filter and clean baskets for several hrs the circulation is great but continues to slow quite a bit within less than 24hrs. Even though I cleaned the filter just yesterday if I went out and cleaned it now the circ would be great and by this evening it would be just ok. The filter is only a couple of months old as well. I read about people keeping a cartridge for sometimes a couple of yrs.

Sounds like a chenistry issue. The filter may be overloaded with organics. Can you provide a full set of water test results? That's the first place we should start.

You may have seen other posts here where we describe how horrible test strips are. No good way for you to plan ahead with those readings. Are you able to get yourself one of the TF series test kit or the Taylor K-2006C at this time?

No, I have not seen that. I am new to the forum as of yesterday. I will definitely read up though. So, forgive the ignorance but you’re saying that the filter could be building up with organics that I am not testing for, is that correct?

Absolutely. Happens all the time. We see hundreds of new members here each year for that same description, and in 99.9% of the cases they were using test strips or local pool store testing and never really had things under control. Most common description - "I clean my filter and 30 min later there's little water flow". The water may not look green. It might look dull or hazy, sometimes not even that, but the transparent organics overwhelm the filter media.

For now, simply add about 5 ppm of liquid chlorine each day. That's just to hopefully keep anything from getting worse. Don't add any other products to he water just yet.

In the meantime, you could also:
- Download the PoolMath APP. It can help with dosage amounts and other items.
- Start reviewing the SLAM Process which may be required if you do confirm an algae/organics issue.
- Bookmark the Pool Care Basics, Lots of great info there.
