choking Maytronics

Anyone come up with a better solution than the Maytronics/Dolphin "non return flap"? It is the little fabric doohickey that bungees to the bottom of the basket that keeps debris from flowing back out of the basket when the cleaner is not under power.

I find any teeny weeny leaf load will immediately choke the flap and prevent the cleaner from sucking up any more organic matter.

Right now I have removed the "non return flap" and will put up with some minor cleaner reflux for the time being.

It seems that this "flap" and/or basket could use some reengineering. Different dimensions, different material, or something.

Has anyone come up with a home-grown solution?

Perhaps your drainage flap on one of the bottom edges isn't sitting right and letting the pump pull water in through there too thereby minimizing the suction. If you pull the robot out of the water you will see the location I'm talking about as water will drain from there so if that flap doesn't close tight to the robot it let water back in that way also when it's doing its chores so it would be splitting the suction via 2 places.

Mine always worked just fine, even with leaf debris. I suggest you pull it off and inspect it to sure the rubber band at the bottom makes a tight seal and the two up metal weights are intact. I’d also inspect the fabric for tears as well.

Also check the rubber drain flaps too as @wireform suggests. And make sure the basket is sitting securely around the opening.
