Liquid Chlorine
Drained pool due to algae bloom, Shocked pool and purchased new TF-100 test kit. Added 1 gallon chlorine and it does not register as pool having any chlorine, added another 1/2 gallon chlorine next day, still showing no chlorine in pool? I am surprised. Do I need to keep adding chlorine until it show on test kit or do I need to add conditioner so chlorine will register on test?

Without CYA in the water, the half life of FC in fresh water with the sun on the pool is less than an hour.

Get 30 ppm CYA in the water.

If pool wasn’t 100% drained I’d check the conditioner level and make sure you don’t have ammonia.

okay, sorry but what is CYA?
That’s the conditioner. Here’s a link to details of how much chlorine is needed depending on how much CYA/stabilizer is in the water.
