You're right, there is a LOT of reading to do here, and there are people here who can talk so far over my head that I struggle to even follow along. Even so, you have to admit, the concepts are relatively simple and at WORST, are a 100x less confusing than tracking the potions and elixirs the pool stores are selling your neighbors. That's because those products are designed to confuse.

So read, and keep reading. Write too - you'll be a contributor here before you know it. Make some mistakes. Learn from them. Help others avoid them.

Absolutely. If I'm going to 100% transparent here I'll have to admit, I've owned pools for a good 10 years and never even heard of TFT process, the BBB method, clueless to anything beyond PH and Chlorine levels (I wasn't even aware that there is FC, CC and TC). Like you said, much like the 90% of people out there my understanding was very limited. The process was, you wait until the pool starts looking green, you take a sample to the pool store, they give you $50 to $100 worth of chemicals and then you were good for a few weeks until the process repeated itself, or you hired a pool guy. The TFT process "seems" complicated because it's more involved and requires more understanding from the pool owner than the process above. I have my chemicals under control as of yesterday and I swam twice and the whole family noticed the difference. The pool wasn't over chlorinated, nor did it give you a slimy feeling when chlorine was really low, it was just perfect. It was sheer luck I came across TFT forums. What I learned so far has given me a greater control of my pool chemistry i didn't think i could have. Sure the test kit costs money and time, but it's nothing compared to what i was going through before. I was also very impressed at how friendly and helpful people are here, and thank you to everyone for being so patient, us newbies tend to ask a lot of questions and tend to be set in our ways lol.
