Anytime the PSI goes up 25% over clean. Feel free at 18% or whenever if it's convenient at that time to start it back at clean psi.

That is the magic sauce to the SLAM Process.
Shock Level And Maintain until u pass ALL 3 end of slam criteria
You are done when-
*You have Crystal Clear water - no debris dead or alive
* Overnight free chlorine loss of 1ppm or less
* CC’s of .5 or lower
So we had a ton of rain this weekend (around 3/4 inch - maybe even an inch) so I left the pool be for a couple of days. It's looking very clear but the FC has some down from around 17 to 9 (I guess dilution played a part?). The pool is looking very clear and the 'dust' that I was brushing off the floor has largely gone. Do I let the FC settle back to normal levels and turn on the salt cell to kepe it constant, balance out the chemicals etc and return to maintenance mode, or do I continue with the slam process (e.g. test the overnight loss tonight)?

You continue the SLAM Process until you have met all 3 end of slam criteria.
Stopping short just opens the door to the possibility of having to start all over again.
The idea is to thoroughly & properly complete the slam process then maintain Recommended Levels thereafter & never need to slam again

Pools consume chlorine on their own 2-4ppm per day so if you lost 4ppm per day for two days that would get you from 17 down to 9. That’s going to happen all summer so probably not related to any dilution from rain.
Rain can only dilute you by its volume compared to your pool volume. Said another way..... 1 inch of rain in 60 inches of pool (etc) and in this recent round of bad weather, less than 2% of water added / FC drop. You would never even know it happened by testing.
If a big storm happens and 0 FC water is allowed to fester on top of the pool unmixed, it may cause problems 12 hours later when the pump comes back on. So that is your only concern with big storms. Mix them at your earliest convenience if they aren't already, like this one during a SLAM.

OCLT: lost 1.5ppm (3 drops) overnight. So v close. Pool also looking very clear. Gave it a good brush again today, we did have a little of what I think is white mold gathering on top (heavy rain raised the pool level and the skimmer wasn’t very effective for a day or so), so I backwashed, brushed it down, backwashed again this morning….
And don't get discouraged if tomorrow loses a little ground in the battle. It doesn't always go perfectly to plan. Some days it's 2 steps forward and one step back, just like anything else. Your OCLTs might be 3, 3, 2, 1.5, 2.5. Progress is still progress even if it blips a little.
Ok great - I'll keep going... the pool is looking cleaner by the day. One issue we seem to have developed though is (I think) white mold. Any tips for dealing with that? I read to backwash, brush, repeat etc. At least I think it's white mold - we live in a heavily wooded area so it's possible it's tree/pollen related - hard to tell. We also haven't had much sun over the last week, so that might explain the build up (using the logic that UV rays kill white mold). No signs in the pool, just a clear flakey substance developing on top.
