Hi everyone, a couple weeks into my transition from the pool store to TFP method. Pool is looking good but looking for some confirmation I am understanding it correctly.
Is it correct that the chlorine levels suggested by TFP in the Chlorine/CYA chart will be much higher than suggested by pool stores et al?
For example my pool has a CYA of 50. Using the chlorine/cya chart I've been trying to keep my FC at 6. The pool store would tell me to keep Chlorine between 1 and 3.
My understanding after reading through the information on the site is that because my CYA is on the high side I need the higher chlorine levels to compensate.
Is that understanding correct?

Basically you are correct. The issue is that many typical pool stores and builders refer to a decades-old reference of basic pool industry level recommendations. You can see those differences between all chemical levels, not just FC/CYA. The issue with FC specifically is that the industry as a whole has not recognized or fully adopted the FC-CYA relationship. They know about it, papers have been published to validate, but not all agencies have adopted it. TFP, through the help of scientists in their field, developed the
