Chlorine Level

I recently replaced a single speed pump (1 14/ hp) with a variable speed (1.5 hp). My issue is I can't keep my chlorine level adjusted and I'm not going through tablets in my chlorinator and I was with the single speed. I'm not sure if this is a pump issue or a chlorinator issue.. ANY IDEAS!! HELP!

Easiest solution is to not rely on tablets to maintain your chlorine level, which we don't recommend for regular chlorination anyway.

Seems you were having some trouble a few weeks ago. Did you ever follow up on any of the advice given then?

+1^^^^^

You say you are going through tablets, but that isn't nearly as relevant as what your chemical test results are. Like this:

FC
CC
PH
TA
Cya
CH -doesn't matter so much in a vinyl pool really

Those numbers are the key to keeping your pool sparking and healthy. Have you taken the opportunity to read up about the ABC's of pool chemistry in pool school? Pool School - ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

Was using them more frequently than I am with the new pump. Then I was having no issues with levels. I just can't figure out if the new pump is not flowing enough chlorine.

Last Test with old pump
FC 2
CC 3
PH 7.4
TA 130
Cya was not tested at that time.

Last test with new pump
FC 0
CC 1
PH 7.3
TA 100
Cya not tested

If I don't rely on tablets what are my options? Liquid??

I have test kits and local store do testing randomly also, and again no issues before pump change out.

Your in-line chlorinator with tabs is dependent on water flow through the device, which probably went down if your variable speed pump is not on full speed. You can try increasing the flow dial on the chlorinator, but it may not be enough to compensate for the decreased flow if you are running less than full speed on the pump. You are also probably adding more CYA than you want, but we won't know until you get an accurate CYA reading.

Best bet is to ditch the tabs and in-line chlorinator altogether and use liquid chlorine. You also need to maintain your FC/CYA ratio. See this chart:
Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart

This means you need your own TF-100 test kit so you can accurately measure CYA and FC.

Hi JTS7240, welcome to TFP!

The advisors and experts here base their analysis of your pool, and the subsequent advice about it, on accurate test results that you yourself obtain from a proper test kit (not from the pool store). They pretty much trust only two test kits. The TF-100 you've already been advised to purchase, and a Taylor K-2006C. So if you have neither, what help you get here is going to be limited.

They also need to know about your pool. You've got a good start there on your signature, but it could use some work. And you also need to do some work on your volume number. You can't accurately dose your pool without knowing, as best you can, how much water is in the pool.

So first things first, order a proper test kit, and add which one you buy to your signature. Then have a look here and do what you can with the instructions:

Read this page for info about calculating your pool water's volume:

After that, download the Pool School eBook and get started on that:

 Welcome to TFP!!!

Even without knowing the CYA (which is absolutely critical), it is clear from the low FC and high CC that you have a problem in your water and likely need to follow the SLAM Process process.

I will agree with the above that I am guessing you need a better test kit to really take control.

I will also agree that your reduced tablet consumption is likely due to you decreasing the pump speed and flow rate. But, just raising the speed, while may increase the tablet rate of dissolving, will not likely fix your chemistry problem and may be making it worse if your CYA is already too high.
