chlorine generation

Hello, I have been having trouble keeping chlorine in my pool. I recently (Dec 2023) upgraded to a Jandy TrueClear system that for a while in winter worked well. But by early spring I started noticing low levels of chlorine. I went back and forth with Jandy support and after several rounds of water tests to confirm the phosphates are low (I know), they replaced the TC in June under warranty. So far so good.

I set the TC at 50%, thinking that would be good, but as I tested and adjusted upward chlorine levels haven't been where I want. All my recent testing shows what seems to me to be good chemistry (see attached)

So my question for the forum is this: Is it possible that while I was waiting for a warranty replacement TC, that I developed an algae bloom that I haven't really killed? And that is why I'm seeing low chlorine levels as well as some slight algae in a few spots? If so, I guess I should SLAM the pool...

Also, I'd like to get my CYA up to 70, although the two pool stores measured 65, but my tests repeatedly show 50 to maybe 55.

Do not raise CYA yet.

You let your FC get low for your CYA level. You need to always follow this...Link-->FC/CYA Levels

Yes it is quite possible. I'd suggest performing an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to confirm/deny.

What do you make of two different pool stores getting CYA at 65, where I can only get maybe 55 on multiple tests? I am confident that I am testing correctly, and I have new chemicals

I don't think anything about them. We don't trust pool store testing...1000s of threads I've responded to with pool store testing that is off. Waste of time. Trust your kit.

Always round your CYA up to the next 10. Your CYA is 60.
