Our pool is closed for the winter, but we still have a spa open that we use. When I open the chlorinator to refill it, the water constantly overflows and makes it difficult to get the lid back on and sealed at the end of the process. I make sure my pump is turned off, but I can’t locate a valve to turn off as well to prevent that water from overflowing. Any ideas on what I could be doing differently?

Mac,

Yes, pics would help...

Do you have this same problem when the pool is open??? If not, shutting off the valves to and from the spa should stop the overflow..

But, without pics, that is just my guess..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Sorry, didn’t think to add a pic. The valve right next to the Chlorinator won’t turn-I assume the pool company has it set that way for some reason but that’s the only one I could think of that might affect it

I don’t have the same problem when the pool is open. I posted another reply with a pic. I can’t get any valves to turn so I thought that was a setting the pool company did when they closed the pool but I’m not sure. This is our first winter with new equipment

Does it flow steady or glug glug glug ?

Try turning this valve so the handle points to the right. The filter will drain out the puck / mineral dispenser but might stop.

You don't use the mineral cartridges, correct ?

Mac,

I agree with the dude... When you open the tab feeder, it opens a path for your filter to drain down..

Moving the valve, in the red circle so that the off tab points to the filter, might not stop the flow, but it should decrease it a lot, so you can get the lid on..

In the summer, when you are using your pool, the pump lid will be on and you should not have the same issue.

Thanks for the pics..

Jim R.

I tried to turn that one to the right and could only go straight across to the open pipe. I don’t know about the mineral cartridges-if we have those, that’s something the pool company has dealt with. We just had this equipment installed this year so I’m still learning it all

Oh, it’s a steady flow
