Chips/cracks in new fiberglass pool

Hi all! I’m in the middle of having an inground fiberglass pool/spa combo installed. It’s the Imagine Pools Exquisite 35. We are concerned about some cosmetic issues with the gelcoat. It is visibly chipped, cracked, and damaged in multiple spots around the top of the spa, which we weren’t planning on covering with concrete. Some photos are attached below.

Our contractor is insisting this is par for the course, but it feels wrong that a brand new pool would be delivered with such obvious imperfections. Im suspicious that it is either a factory second or that it was somehow damaged during transport/install. Has anyone here experienced this with a brand new pool? If so, was the damage successfully repaired?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Mine was way worse than that. The gel coat is pretty thick, it looks like that could be wet sanded and buffed out. Maybe a mobile detail company that does boats.

Welcome to TFP! You have a right to be concerned, but it appears as though you accepted the pool and it's installed now correct? If so, all you can do now is hold the installer accountable for the repairs. Gelcoat repairs can be quite good, maybe not factory perfect, but good enough to where you can live with it. But don't let them off the hook until they make those repairs.
