Childproofing a gate latch

Today I found out that my 4 year old son is able to open the gate to our pool. There are 2 additional gate accesses to the pool with similar latches. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good upgrade to the latch to childproof them aside from a combination lock?

In Australia where our safety requirements are fairly rigorous most use something like this- called the Magna latch.

Magna Latch is the best and meets codes. Top should be mounted at least 48” above the ground.

Yup, Magna latch required when my pool was built.

Basically its sort of cumbersome to open (esp for little hands) which is how its intended but it self closes and re-latches itself. A bit pricey but worth the peace of mind of one more barrier to the water. I just saw one model has an added alarm sound when even opened properly.
