Check valve on pool suction side is not fully opening.

Any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
My suction side Pentair check valve is not opening fully and My pump skimmer basket (clear top) is not filled totally when pump is running. I did nit 2 loose screws on on check valve cover which I fixed and are tightened. I’m guessing I’m sucking air a bit of air but I can’t seem to find the issue. Could there be a slight blockage in the suction line from my pool skimmer/basket to my pool pump? The check valve seems to operate correctly but is not opening as wide as it has in the past. Kind of stumped. TIA for any other ideas/thoughts.

When was the filter cleaned last? A dirty filter will slow down the flow. Valve opening size depends on how much water is flowing.

Thats true. But return flow to the pool and spa is as forceful as ever and appears to be normal. Filter is clean.
Found hinge pin on pentair check valve moved for some reason ( missed it on first inspection..ha)not allowing ck valve flap to open fully. Reset hinge pin.
