Hey I’m curious if it’s cheaper to upgrade to the larger salt cell (IC40) than to run my pump on an IC20 for 18 hrs a day in Texas. It’s not making the proper amount of chlorine. I assume I can sell my 1 year old undersized salt cell online to recoup some money.

With a vs pump, just run it 24/7. You should be able to run at 1200 rpm or so to satisfy the flow switch.

Jeff,

You have an 19K pool and a 20K cell.. which is only half the SWCG size that we recommend. :(

When you use up your current 20K cell, then you should replace it with a 40K cell.

As long as your 20K cell is keeping up, then I see no reason to replace it.. That said, you will have to run the 24/7 and set the cell at close to 100% to keep your FC up in the middle of the summer.

Many of us run our pumps 24/7 and with a VS pump, the cost is pretty cheap.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, I screwed up... :) Thank you for the reply. I'll do this until the cell fails.
