Chasing pH

Jameshtx - another thought to the insights already provided:

1. Adding acid only once a week may not be sufficient. Try testing and adjusting pH 2 or 3 times a week. For instance, my pool's pH rises about .2 per day. Waiting a whole week would be a 1.4 point pH rise for me, so it would basically be impossible to keep it in range with just once per week dosing.
2. Have you ever tested pH after adding the acid to confirm that pH is being lowered by as much as you expect? It's possible that the pool size estimate you're using in PoolMath is off, and you may not be adding enough acid.

Would like to add a little question to this thread. I also am chasing a constantly lowering chlorine and rising pH. I have a plaster pool. I use straight chlorine every other day. Muriatic Acid as needed.
If I need to add both, which happens a lot, can I add them at the same time? Or one right after another, or do I need to wait to add one, then test, and add the other? If I am supposed to add one before the other, which should I do first? THX!!
Here are my numbers today:
Chlorine- 2
CC 0.5
CYA 35
TA - 100
CH- 225

Wait 30 minutes between adding liquid chlorine and acid.

Always test prior to adding. Especially pH.
