Corpus Christi, TX
Pool Size
13500
Surface
Vinyl
Chlorine
Salt Water Generator
SWG Type
Hayward Aqua Rite (T-15)
Here is a screenshot of my levels taken last night I have already added the proper amount of bleach to raise FC. I added the MA to lower PH and TA, I will be aerating the pool today with the fountain to raise ph to proper levels if needed. I added fresh water yesterday to refill splash out from the normal use of the pool but I can't seem to get the CH to drop to the recommended range seems like it always stays around that number 160 to 180...How do I fix this? Maybe the city water just has higher CH not sure. I also added more of the stabilizer to get me to 80 or should I just go with 70? What's your opinion? My salt shows 3200 to 3300 on the SWG and haven't added anymore cause I ran out of the proper reagents to properly test it so I'm running off of what the SWG is telling me... I haven't had a chance to update my Sig. so here are my specs... 24' round partially buried Wilbar Saltwater LX. 25ga Vinyl Liner. 1hp Hayward Power-Flo Matrix pump with 100lb Hayward sand filter <---(I know I should get bigger filter and I will be up grading) Hayward Aqua Trol SWG with Cell in Return Line no flow back required... 2" PVC with 1 1/2" reducers where needed 12" away from skimmer, Pump, Filter and Return.IMG_1297.jpg

Forgot to mention Taylor K-2006-C Test Kit Used to get numbers

Go test the fill water. If it's close to your arbitrary target, you will never ever ever be able to maintain that target. As soon as some water starts evaporating, CH will go up. Change your Target CH to your now CH. Problem solved. You're nowhere near high enough to worry about scaling.

And on that subject.... you don't need to be aggressive about lowering TA. Just maintain pH with acid every 2-3 days or whatever and it will slowly come down. It says it right in the how-to not to lower TA just to reach a target.

Ok Thanks... Yeah I have been testing the fill water and it sits about the same range as far as CH... I just wasn't sure if there is anything to be concerned about or if it is something to try and keep as close to the low end as possible but you have now helped me to determine that answer... I've read the SWG Levels to maintain in pool school and was trying to stay on the low end of the spectrum... I've read pool school religiously and always go back to it but I'm afraid I have to say I probably missed or don't remember the part about the TA But I will remember to always go back and read for all my answers should be there but thanks a lot I really appreciate the response...
