Hi everyone,

My pool has been doing great all summer so far.
Crystal clear. Just have to add Muriatic Acid like every other day no matter what I do . The fill is water had a pretty high pH and TA I think .i am wondering if i will always be needing to add so much acid. People have said here the first year of a new plaster pool one is often struggling with high pH issues.

Earlier in the year I was advised not to add any CH to my pool as fill water would have it come up naturally over the summer. Well here we are half way in my most recent check, my CH actually went down to 275. Think I should add more calcium or still hold where I am at?

What is the CH, TA and pH lf your fill water?

If your pool CH drops below 200ppm, add calcium. Just don't overdo it.

Keep your CSI in the 0.00 to -0.30 (negative 0.30) to minimize scaling in the SWG.
Easiest way to do that is to adjust pH and keep your TA around 60-ish.

I don’t recall off hand what the levels are of the fill water, but will check tomorrow and get back to you. CH if I recall was low (like 25 or 50). And pH and TA are a lot higher than my pool.

My CSI lately has been like 0.15 which pool
Math says is good. It would be less than 0 if I could get the pH down. Even when I lower pH to 7.2 with acid and run waterfall to raise without raising TA, next day pH is almost back to wear it likes to live (8.0-8.1).

TA is 79 currently .

Did you mean 70?

Continue to keep the pH in the 7.6 to 7.8 range to keep CSI slightly negative.
Minimize aeration unless actively trying to lower TA.

The CH dropping for 300 a month ago to 275 now is within the +/- 1 drop error range.
Unless you are removing water from the pool thru draining, splashout or a leak, your CH won't drop even when adding water with a lower CH.

Add your test kits to your signature.

Yes, I meant 70. Was a typo. I try to keep my pH in that range but no matter what I do, I have to add acid like every other day or even daily as it goes back up to 8 or just over.

I check my fill water tonight when I get home from work.

Aerating raises your pH. Dont do that other than when you want the waterfall on for other reasons.
