As it appears you are using liquid chlorine, switch to cal hypo for awhile. Two birds with one stone.
Is that the same as the chlorinating tablets? I stopped using those last year as my CYA level was around 90 most of last year.
I thought from reading on here liquid 12% was the way to go, so I switched and now my CYA level is around 60.

No. It is sometimes sold as ‘shock’. Calcium Hypochlorite. Adds calcium and chlorine to your pool water. Be sure it is plain. No other additives.
