Cartridge filter keeps breaking

I have a in ground fiberglass pool with a astral zx310 cartridge filter. The filters keep on breaking. Some of them only last for 2 weeks before they break! I have no idea why and they’re not cheap. The pressure gauge always shows low PSI. When I vacuum the pool the pressure stays low as well. Not sure if anyone else has any other recommendations or if I should look into getting a different brand

 Welcome to TFP!

Your filter is plumbed incorrectly. The water should be going into the cartridge from the outside and then returning to the pool through the inside of the cartridge.

So the connections of the pipes to the filter are backward.

Can you tell just based on the picture? Can you confirm if I post pictures of the exterior ? Thanks

I know it has been said, but I agree with everyone else... your system is 100% reversed plumbed. You can tell because the pleats are puffing out and the top end cap cracked where the core is placed. Water should flow outside in versus inside out. Looking at the pictures, the outside of the cartridge looks clean and I am sure the inside is very dirty. If this keeps happening to you, definitely look at the plumbing first before putting in a new cartridge.

This thread just saved me. After going through 3 sets of filters thinking I was the problem...I checked my filter and sure enough, its reversed. Warranty claim with my builder is opened.... I wouldnt be as upset if it didnt say DIRECTLY ON THE FILTER outlet vs inlet. SMH.
