Cartridge Cleaning

Anyone know the cartridge filter brand that Pentair installs as OEM in their new filters? I’m less than impressed for a $700 purchase! They appear to be the Reemay paper style (cheapo IMHO, Unicel maybe?) but remarkably the 4 cartridges lasted 2 years.

I replaced my filter entirely direct-replacement with the Pentair C&C+ 240 sf about 2 years ago now. How time flies! I bought the filter and it came with 4 cartridges already setup inside. They’re gonna need to be replaced in next cleaning cycle. Bands pulling off, aren’t holding pleats apart, debris is uneven, more frequent cleaning intervals too.

I was a dum dum and bought new Pleatco filters for my old filter about 3 years ago, and they were only a few months old but I bought the new filter and just tossed the old one with the newer filters. The old filter sprung a leak in the fiberglass, but I really wish I would have harvested the old parts, and those Pleatcos, in case I needed them. $120 down the drain.

I have the Excel and Pleatco cartridges in my Amazon cart and they’re both around $100 for pack of 4...good price! They seem to be similar, but by far premium product compared to what Pentair has as OEM! Any thoughts or suggestions on which? I’d like to try the Excels.
