Cannot Backwash - is there an alternative?

Our pool was built over 20 years ago and when it was put in the backwash pipe emptied through a pipe onto some waste ground opposite us. Rules now a days state that we can no longer do this and we cannot let the water run down the road into the general drainage system as the nearest drain is some way from us - we have been warned by the local police that if they see us doing this they will fine us.
We have no access on our property to the mains sewer so what are the alternatives, if any, to back washing?

Could you fill out your signature to provide us more information? Do you have a DE or sand filter? Does the pool have a SWCG?
Do you have a grassy area you could backwash to? Do you have a sewer cleanout next to your home?
There is always the choice to change to a cartridge filter. But eventually you will need to drain the pool for some reason. So need to find a place to put the water.
