This come.back a couple hours after brushing. I did an over night chlorine test a couple days ago and passed, water Crystal clear but decided To do a slam anyways because the pool smells like chlorine if you get close to it. I did check for cc and test was negative. I have A CYA of 50 and I've been keeping the chlorine at 20 there's been no change in the dirt or the smell. Does this look like algae? The robot can never pick it up because it's in little crevices. It definitely picks up a lot of dirt. Its like mud. On the steps I felt it and definitely part of it is dirt bas it feels gritty but I can't tell about the other.
Can you look and tell me if this is dirt or algea

The best test is to pick some up between your fingers (which you have done). Gritty = dirt. Squishy smeary = gross
I think my sister has the same issue in her pool.
It looks almost like dirt or sand, but when you touch it with your fingers, it just disappears. you can't really pick it up. It isn't gritty. FC is high from several days of SLAMing.

Very likely DEAD algae. Brush it up into the pool water so the filter can pick it up or vacuum it into the filter.
