I started getting a slight "chatter" sound at startup towards the end of last season. The sound went away after a few seconds.
It has been online this season for about 3 weeks and is now lasting 10-15 seconds. The colder it is the longer it lasts.
Now it has developed a single drip below the seal area so slow I haven't had to patience to watch long enough to say how often.
This is the third season for this pump.
So can a seal make noise? The pump sounds perfect after the short noise at startup and the noise also does not sound like any "bad pump bearings" youtube videos I have watched.
Also, I added a SWCG last season - was I supposed to have put a salt rated seal in then? No idea what type of seal they ship with.
Thanks
PS: This is a single speed Sta-Rite - I haven't installed the 2 speed pump and cartridge filter in my sig yet.
