Yes - as long as it doesn't have any other additives. Make sure it's ONLY Sodium Hypochlorite. No smells. No "splashless".

Welcome to TFP. As far as I know, at this point there isn't any Clorox bleach product that doesn't include "Cloromax", which are polymers intended to protect fabrics from breakdown in the laundry. This is not something you want in your pool.

If you need liquid chlorine, Walmart usually has the best deal vs Home Depot on their Pool Essentials brand. $5.75/gal or so. You can also usually source liquid chlorine from local pool stores where they sell them in 2.5gal "carboys".

I found the same thing browsing thru all the Chlorox bottles in my local grocery store. They all have something in them I didn't want. House brand may be an option, but the ones I saw had very low sodium hypochlorite percentage. Found Walmart to be the best bang for the buck at 10% sodium hypochlorite. Haven't looked at HD yet as they are twice as far away for me.

On top of the additives found in nearly all laundry bleaches, they are 6% at most, cpmpared to the liquid chlorine at 10% or 12.5%. They are probably more expensive FC to FC when you need almost twice as much of it. There's a bleach calculator in the upper left menu of PoolMath so you can compare what you find.


In a pinch, while also lesser strength, germicidal/disinfectant bleach in the cleaning aisle is usually additive free. So if you must, hit up the cleaning aisle, not the laundry aisle.
