Can I use a Zodiac MX8 in above ground pool?

Curious if anyone ever tried this? Pool store has refurb MX8 Elite's for like $320. My pool is a radiant metric, semi-inground, so it's not the thinner wall type of AGP. Wondering if this thing would work? The current kreepy-type knockoff only cleans the bottom, and does it poorly at that.

I think at 1400rpm I'm probably around 40gpm (I don't have a flow meter installed, I know, shame on me) but calculating head loss I'd say I'm around 40 GPM at that RPM. I can increase RPM but the increased turbulence tends to make it worse. It's similar to a Zodiac Ranger or Baracuda. Don't remember the exact name. It looks like the Ranger but has the finned disc more like a Baracuda. It might've been G2?
