I took the Borate plunge last week using Boric Acid from dudadiesel, new water, and filters.

This borated water has been the easiest water to maintain than any other water so far. Thanks to everybody on here that contributed to that good recommendation!

Can I use the leftover Boric Acid to lower Ph? I did not see it on the Pool Calculator in the Ph section, and didn't get any search results.

My guess, from what I read using it to Borate, that it's not strong enough.

Thanks!

Boric acid is a very weak acid so is not suitable for lowering pH. When boric acid is added to water, it mostly remains as boric acid and only some of it dissociates to lower the pH and become borate ion. Adding 50 ppm to water with a pH of 7.5 and initial TA of 80 ppm will lower the pH to 7.3 so even adding enough boric acid to increase borates to their maximum recommended amount doesn't lower pH very much.
