I've been thinking of making some upgrades to my pool setup to a better/more efficient pump and potentially something more automated. I'm sorry if this is long, I'm trying to provide all the information I've seen others ask for.
I have an approximately 27,000-gallon pool (was told it was 35k and it's much larger than most residential pools but I just had it replastered and after the fill I calculated 27k from the water meter
). The pool currently has a Pentair has a 2.0 HP pump with 2.20 S.F. HP. It uses 1 1/2" piping and there are 2 side skimmers, the floor drain, and 5 returns in the pool. There is a spa that overflows into the pool that has 4 returns on the spa side + 1 return w/ a check valve that flows from the poolside (if that makes sense).
I have a cartridge filter that reads 24psi when set up for pool mode only, 23psi with the returns split between the pool and spa so that I get actual spillover and more water exchange in the spa, and 29psi when I'm set to spa only.
I also have a PB4-60 booster pump for a Polaris 280 (it's leaking atm if you happen to catch that in the pics) that I've been thinking of just removing from the circuit and capping that pipe off and using a regular pool robot because that 280 drives me insane from always getting tangled and getting stuck on the stairs. I've rebuilt it multiple times, replaced the hose and made sure it was the right length but still run into the same problems. Right now it's automated with an Intermatic mechanical timer.
There are many pump options and I'm a bit lost on them all. If I can upgrade the amount of flow coming through the pipes that would be great but I realize that is limited by the pipe size.
Two of the pumps I've looked at are the Pentair EC-011057 IntelliFlo VS+SVRS 3HP and EC-011533 WhisperFlo VS 2.5 THP. I'm not entirely sure of the difference between the different models and my Googling skills aren't working too great. Are either of these good options for me? I also see that the IntelliCenter is the newest automation system, but what about using the EasyTouch 8 EC-520545 system with one of these? (I can grab one of these for way cheaper than an Intellicenter and can also get the included IC40 salt cell and go that route as well if people think that's better)
My goal with getting an automated system is to be able to turn change over to the spa remotely and turn on the heater. Are the Jandy AquaLink RS JVA4424 Valve Actuator's the ones I would need to add? My lights right now are just regular 120v LED lights, 1 in the spa and 1 in the pool. If I change to the EasyTouch is something like the Pentair IntelliBrite 601000 5G Color LED Pool Light a good pair with it?
