Can I add RS485 control to my tristar?

Long story short, I was in a hurry to replace my pump and found a really good condition Tristar SP3202VSP on FB. I thought all Tristar came with the ability to add wifi controller through RS485 but I guess I'm wrong?

Opened up the controls and don't see any RS485 connection. I'd still like to add some form of WiFi control to this. Is it possible?

Below are pictures of the inside of the pump.

The RS-485 COMM port is where the pump display panel is connected to.

You disconnect the pump display and connect another RS-485 control.

Is that all it is? The display communicates via RS485? I thought RS485 is normally 9 pins?

So figure out the pins below and tape into them? Can I run the display in conjunction to the RS485?20241026_092954.jpg20241026_092837.jpg

Google told me this about the wires.
  • Red: 12V power to the display
  • Yellow and Black: Communication wires (data pair)
  • Green: Common or ground connection

Please consult the pump manual and not GOOGLE.

RS-485 is two communication wires and two power wires. Red 12V wire is not needed and not used as the pump and automation has its own power.

Did you read the diagram I posted above?

Yes I have the manual in front of me, I'm either misreading it or over thinking it. But I do see what you're saying not according to the manual, I don't see a line to 12v only A, B and COM but the com has dotted line. What does that represent?

A and B are the communication wires. COM wire is a ground which is optional for RS-485 but Hayward wants it.

12V is only needed if the device you are connecting expects to be powered by the pump.

The manual specifically says the display must be disconnected. You cannot run both.
