My Hayward pump came with a 3 foot cord, I want to hardwire it properly to a 4 or 6 foot cord will that mess up my pump. It’s going to be properly hardwired in by an electrician with a proper gauge wire. 12 gauge, is that OK or does it have to be 3 feet I’m not worried about code, I just need a little bit more room to scooted over on my pad so everything fits. Please advise thank you very much and have a great day.

If possible, hardwiring is best as it will be in conduit and less likely to be damaged (rodents especially like to gnaw on electrical cords even though most manufacturers actually put something in the coating to discourage it). The connection to the power source is also more secure.
