I don't know of any reason that phosphates would cause the salinity to read high.
If the manufacturer can explain it, we would like to hear what they have to say.

A onetime correlation does not prove causation.
Just because the cell is working now does not prove that the addition of phosphate remover had anything to do with it working.

Phosphate reducer is usually lanthanum, which causes a precipitate of lanthanum carbonate and lanthanum phosphate.
It’s possible that some of the precipitate has adhered to the cell plates as scale, which can reduce the production of chlorine and cause the salinity to read lower due to lower current draw to the cell.
However, that’s just speculation and not established fact.

Thank you - I am not convinced. I will obviously keep an eye on it and see if it holds.
